Fully Chelated Micronutrients

Intensive cropping and increased yield goals deplete soil micronutrients at every harvest. If micronutrients are not replaced as part of a regular fertilization program, deficiencies can develop. To maintain the high yields required by today's agricultural practices, you need a controlled nutritional program to maintain a proper balance of all plant nutrients in the soil and you cannot do that without adding micronutrients.

Usually, the word "micro"-nutrients creates a false notion that compared to "macro"-nutrients they are less important or just a fad in the agro industry.

However, micronutrients catalyze the efficacy of macronutrients (N-P-K) to help them provide perfectly balanced nutrients to the plant.

The point is, a complete fertility program requires the right balance of micro & macro delivered in a form that is compatible with liquid fertilizers. The advantage of using liquid fertilizers is to facilitate the uptake of fertilizers at critical stages of growth.

Factors that can affect Micronutrient availability :

  • Nature of soil.
  • pH of soil.
  • Interactional compatibility with liquid fertilizers.
  • Phosphate content.
  • Land leveling.
  • Crop removal.

Types of Micronutrients:

  • Inorganic : ZnSO4, CuSO4, FeSO4 etc.
  • Partially chelated weak chelates : NTA, H.E.I.D.A, Citric Acid, Gluconate.
  • Fully chelated strong chelates : EDTA, DTPA, HEDTA.
  • Complexes : Lignosulphonates, Polyflavonoids, Phenolic acids.

Stability of Micronutrients :

The major difference between Metaclaw fully chelated micronutrients and other inorganic micro sources is their stable molecular structure. Full chelation places a "ring-like" chemical structure around the metal ion that protects it from being lost in chemical competition with other materials both in liquid fertilizers and in soil.

The stability of Metaclaw fully chelated micronutrients makes them compatible with nearly all agro-chemicals. They wont donot precipitate out or react with other compounds in fertilizers.

The most important, the lasting solution of Metaclaw fully chelated micronutrients means they remain mobile in the soil and available to plant under widest range of pH and soil conditions which makes them the micro source that can be relied on for supply all crops and methods of application.

Using Metaclaw fully chelated micronutrients in conjunction with liquid polyphosphate fertilizers:

What happens to various metal micronutrients when they are added to liquid polyphosphate fertilizers :

Metal ion considered : Ferric

  • 50% or more get converted to ferric polyphosphate when added to polyphosphate liquid fertilizer.
  • The rate at which the ferric in these products converts to ferric polyphosphate is fast and it occurs before even the liquid fertilizer is applied to the field.
  • Solubility of ferric from these other micronutrients is only because of the action of polyphosphates which is soon lost once the fertilizer is applied to the field.
  • However, when Ferric is used as Metaclaw-Feg it does not undergo ferric-polyphosphate conversion and it provides ferric in a much more efficient form for plant nutrition.

FUNCTIONS OF MICRONUTRIENTS IN PLANTS :

Functions in Plants Type of soil conditions Major Crops
Zn imp during early plant growth ad maturity. Essential in several enzyme systems and in formation of auxins which regulate growth. sandy, high pH soils, high phosphate soils. corn, beans, cotton, potatoes, rice, wheat grapes, sugar, peas.
Mn imp for growth regulation. photosynthesis & chlorophyll production.Oxidation/Reduction processes.
sandy, over-limed soils.organic soils. beans, cotton, corn, rice, vegetables, fruits.
Fe photosynthesis & chlorophyll production. Convert CO2 to plant energy. Enzyme systems high pH soils, high phosphate soils Calcareous soils. beans, potatoes, sugar, small grains.
Cu imp part of enzyme systems. Regulator of imp life processes in plants. Chlorophyll production. sandy, organic soils, high pH soils. corn, small grains, vegetables, fruits, nut trees.

DOSAGE / APPLICATION

The dosage of Metaclaw® Fully Chelated Micronutrients are fixed with respect to the nature of the soil and the deficiency of the particular metal ion in the soil. The Metaclaw chelate can then be applied either by soil or foliar application.

Ideally, a mixture of N-P-K and 1% of each of the Metaclaw® Chelates gives an optimum fertilizer treatment system to plants.

Metaclaw Micronutrient v/s. Sulphates

The efficacy of Metaclaw® Micronutrient Fertilizers is very high as compared to the sulphates, so much so that 500gms of Metaclaw® Micronutrient Fertilizers along with 20kgs of carrier (dolomite/urea, etc) is 1.28 times powerful than one 25kg bag of any sulphate resulting in a net monetary saving of upto 30% plus a 25% increase in the crop yield.
